1- To Cut mats,
flip mat over and draw a line on the mat approx 1/4" larger than the
size mat you need. Example if you need a mat 24" wide, draw a line
at 24 - 1/4". Use a straight edge to keep your line and cut
straight. Take a utility knife and cut through the non-skid
material, and the foam. Do not cut through the vinyl on the top side
of the mat.
2- Fold the mat at the cut line and use you fingers to peel the foam
off the vinyl. Leave the vinyl attached to the part of the mat you
are keeping. You can use a putty knife to trim the excess foam off
the vinyl.
3- Trim the vinyl so it is approx. 4-5" long. Spray a contact glue
(3M#777 works great) on the back of the vinyl, the exposed foam that
you just cut and 2-3" of the bottom of the mat (only the area that
the vinyl will touch once it is folded over).
4- Fold the vinyl over and press the loose vinyl into the mat. This
will help the bond set up. Put the mat in place right away. This
will help keep pressure on the seam while the glue sets up.
Use this same principle for during multiple cuts per mat.
